Knowing Jack
Jack is my real life son, and when he was four or five, he made this joke in real life at his school’s Halloween party. I laughed so hard that I decided to break one of those rules about using real people in your comic. There’s just something so funny about the way kids see the world sometimes.
So I’m doing a rerun on substack to baby step back into the world of cartooning. When Jack and Bruno get together, the comic shifts gears to a kid adventure and I personally love this one.
After Class:
This segment is for extra ramblings that no one needs to read.
After scrambling to get a new job last year, I found myself working fifty to sixty plus hours a week, working every other weekend, and still needing to spend time with the family and maintain the house, I was knocked out of the comic making game. Honestly depression about the situation was probably a factor too. I still want to make this comic, even if it’s only one book in my whole life, so I’m going back and redoing the bad fonts in an earlier story. One, to have a book that can be read consistently one day, and two, to get myself back to the table and try to find a new path to comic making again. So thank you to anyone who still reads this and sorry if you have already found this story online. This particular strip I got to fix a panel where I used the word “remember” twice in the same bubble, and it always bothered me. So that was nice. Let me know if you find a typo!
